Position Summary:
This role is contingent upon contract award and involves providing care for individuals with special needs during large-scale emergencies. The selected candidate must be prepared to respond within 24 hours of notification and establish care within 72 hours. This position requires on-site presence until the operation concludes. The Respiratory Care Specialist will deliver high-quality respiratory services, managing both routine and complex procedures with a variety of techniques and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Accredited degree from a recognized institution.
  • Graduation from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
  • Minimum of one year of professional experience in a clinical setting.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking and cultural competency.
  • Experience with special needs populations is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain necessary skills and knowledge for safe and effective respiratory care.
  • Collaborate with the care team to assess and plan for patients' respiratory needs.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards.
  • Accurately interpret and communicate patient results.
  • Document interventions and responses in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients and families about therapeutic modalities in an understandable manner.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of special needs populations.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Cultural competency and strong interpersonal skills.

Work Schedule and On-Call Requirements:

  • This position requires availability upon notification.
  • Shifts will be 12 hours until the operation is complete.
  • On-call responsibilities are included.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform listed duties and responsibilities.
  • Capability to work in austere environments with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Frequent use of office technology.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle for company purposes.

Travel Requirements:
Travel may be required upon notification.
