Position Overview

We are in search of a new Chief Executive Officer to lead our organization at Turnaround for Children. Collaborating closely with our team of advisors and reporting to the Board of Directors, the incoming CEO will be instrumental in steering our mission to support community-driven educational initiatives. This pivotal role requires a dynamic leader capable of balancing diverse responsibilities, advancing the organization's vision, and cultivating an environment of respect and collaboration.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have a background as a practicing educator or possess significant experience in educational administration and management. They should have a comprehensive understanding of the educational landscape, a strong connection to community engagement, and a deep appreciation for the transformative power of education. Additionally, they should be adept at navigating relationships with various stakeholders, including organizations and community partners.

Key Areas of Leadership:

Visionary Leadership: This role involves building relationships with teams, partners, and stakeholders, expanding outreach to educators, and articulating a visionary strategy. Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and executing educational workshops and programs (60%)
  • Overseeing grant-making initiatives (25%)
  • Managing administrative functions (15%)

The CEO will work with the Board of Directors and a team of advisors to develop a strategic plan for the organization's growth and impact over the next several years.

Program and Grant Management: The CEO will balance the dual role of grant provider and program manager, ensuring effective support for educational organizations and individual educators. This includes:

  • Managing training programs focused on trauma-informed practices
  • Deepening educational offerings for teaching professionals
  • Ensuring transparent communication of grant-making priorities to potential applicants

Brand Building and Representation: The CEO will serve as a public representative of Turnaround for Children, advocating for our mission within the educational and philanthropic communities. Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating collaboration among diverse groups interested in education and community development
  • Demonstrating strong storytelling abilities to effectively communicate our mission and initiatives
