Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marine Operations Specialist is tasked with the management and upkeep of the assigned vessels. Responsibilities may extend to operating various equipment and performing maintenance tasks, with a primary emphasis on ensuring the safe operation of all assigned machinery.

This role operates under the direct oversight of the Leverman.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the operation of assigned marine equipment.
  • Maintain equipment in line with the established maintenance protocols.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of spare parts and consumables.
  • Ensure that all equipment is organized and maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Engage in Safety and Environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and enhance company programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in open water environments.
  • Background in operating large twin-screw vessels.
  • Experience with tender boat operations.
  • Maintenance skills relevant to marine equipment.
  • Prior experience as a Deckhand.
  • Knowledge of dredging processes.
  • Familiarity with dredge pipeline operations in open water.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Willingness to work at remote project sites for extended periods.
  • Reliability and motivation.
  • Capability to obtain a TWIC.
  • Understanding of various marine equipment and tools.
  • Effective communication skills with peers and supervisors.
  • Competencies in stress management, teamwork, and results orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The candidate must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. This includes the ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the work environment.

Additionally, the Marine Operations Specialist must be capable of:

  • Mobility across varying job site locations.
  • Performing repetitive movements and maintaining physical stamina.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs independently; for weights above this, mechanical assistance is required.
  • Exerting force up to 150 lbs when pushing or pulling.
  • Climbing stairs or ladders exceeding 6 ft in height.
  • Working in confined spaces and at elevated heights.
  • Adapting to diverse environmental conditions, including temperature variations and exposure to noise and vibration.
