Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marine Vessel Operator is tasked with the effective management and upkeep of the assigned watercraft. Responsibilities may extend to operating additional machinery and performing maintenance tasks, with a primary emphasis on ensuring the safe operation of all assigned equipment.

This role operates under the direct oversight of the Leverman.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the operation of the designated marine equipment.
  • Maintain equipment in line with the established maintenance protocols.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables.
  • Ensure all equipment is organized and maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Execute other related tasks as directed.
  • Engage in Safety and Environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and enhance existing Company programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience navigating open waters.
  • Experience with large twin-screw vessels.
  • Background in operating tender boats.
  • Maintenance experience relevant to marine equipment.
  • Prior experience as a Deckhand.
  • Knowledge of dredging processes.
  • Familiarity with dredge pipeline operations in open water.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work at remote project sites for extended periods.
  • Reliability and self-motivation.
  • Capability to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Understanding of various marine equipment operations.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Competencies in stress management, teamwork, and results orientation.

PREFERRED SKILLS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The candidate must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations. The individual must also be capable of wearing and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the work environment.

Additionally, a Marine Vessel Operator must be able to:

  • Move across various job site locations, which may involve different heights and access challenges.
  • Stand, bend, twist, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry loads of up to 30lbs independently; heavier items may require assistance.
  • Exert peak force of up to 150lbs when pushing or pulling.
  • Climb stairs or vertical ladders exceeding 6ft in height.
  • Work in confined spaces and at elevated heights.
  • Adapt to varying temperatures and outdoor conditions, including exposure to dust, moisture, noise, and vibrations.
