PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Store Manager is accountable for overseeing all aspects of store operations. This includes achieving or surpassing set financial and sales targets, fostering strong relationships with both associates and customers, and nurturing a robust workplace culture aligned with Food Lion's strategic goals. It is essential to maintain effective communication with the management team and all store associates while ensuring that security, safety, and food safety standards are upheld consistently.

KEY DUTIES:

  1. Optimize all resources (physical, human, and financial) to help the store meet its financial objectives while enhancing sales potential and expanding the customer base.
  2. Lead the execution of both store-specific and corporate initiatives by establishing high standards, effective planning, and appropriate delegation.
  3. Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
  4. Utilize industry and market insights to enhance competitive positioning.
  5. Provide leadership and motivation within the store to cultivate a culture that reflects our guiding principles, core values, vision, and strategy.
  6. Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for both customers and associates.
  7. Ensure proper management of all store funds and company assets.
  8. Foster a positive atmosphere that anticipates and meets the needs of associates and customers, establishing the store as a valued community member.
  9. Value diversity and reflect the community in our workforce.
  10. Oversee the recruitment and selection of the most qualified candidates to fulfill identified store talent needs.
  11. Recognize, assess, and develop associates to balance business objectives with individual aspirations.
  12. Handle all store information with strict confidentiality.
  13. Provide recognition for achievements and offer constructive feedback as necessary to enhance customer satisfaction and service while driving store sales.
  14. Utilize company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling, productivity metrics, ordering systems, and business information systems effectively.
  15. Understand and apply Profit and Loss (P&L) management.
  16. Maintain an action plan for associates not meeting productivity standards or exceeding shrink controls, implementing training and accountability as required.
  17. Complete all required training programs successfully.
  18. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred: College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Required: Strong understanding of retail operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn various tasks and technical job requirements.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to resolve issues.
  • Proven ability to lead and guide others.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
  • Physical capability to meet the demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must obtain certification as a Food Safety Manager within the first 90 days of employment, if not already accredited.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient in using computers and communication systems necessary for job functions.
  • Ability to operate handheld devices for orders, markdowns, and inventory management.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and frequently walk short distances.
  • Ability to push or pull up to 2000 pounds using appropriate equipment.
  • Capable of performing repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Must be able to lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and approximately 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to handle various cleaning and packaging materials safely.
  • Frequent reaching and grasping at various levels.
  • Must meet established volume activity standards for the position.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures for short durations.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to review documents and verify information.
