Position Overview

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring in-office attendance two days a week.

Compensation

Salary is based on experience, ranging from $70,000 to $75,000.

Role Summary

The Financial Operations Accountant will oversee the accounting responsibilities for a portfolio associated with Armed Services YMCA's Military Family Services. This includes managing financial assistance services under the guidance of the Vice President of Finance, in collaboration with the Senior Vice President of Military Family Services. This position entails a dual reporting structure to both the VP of Finance and the SVP of Military Family Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting, and cash management.
  • Maintain and enhance existing processes, procedures, and controls, while developing new methodologies to support the Military Family Services portfolio.
  • Manage the accounting for two government contracts that provide gym memberships for eligible military personnel and their families, including all accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Ensure accuracy in vendor invoice verification, process payments, and conduct cash management activities.
  • Handle financial operations for Operation Ride Home, including cash management, fund disbursement, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Oversee grant disbursement accounting, including budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the membership management system, including reporting and budgeting.
  • Conduct monthly account analysis and bank reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare and manage the department's annual budget and forecasts.
  • Maintain corporate accounting policies and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal guidelines.
  • Participate in audits and respond to annual requests as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in accounting functions.
  • Experience in non-profit organizations or federal contracts is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, particularly Sage Intacct, is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
