Account Manager Job Description

McNaughton-McKay Electric Co. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Account Manager to join our team. As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and growing sales at existing accounts, developing new construction accounts, and providing customer and market feedback regarding products and business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Increase sales and profits at existing customer accounts while providing a balance and growth in existing product sales.
  2. Be responsible for all project quotations and bids for each account, ensuring all bid information is complete and that Construction Specialists have all necessary details for proposals.
  3. Establish relationships with customers at all levels of the customers' organizations.
  4. Develop and follow a business plan identifying key accounts, market/account strategy, stocking requirements, and support issues.
  5. Develop positive vendor relations through account activity planning, communication, and joint calls.
  6. Coordinate and manage all account activities and projects profitably, utilizing internal support and external vendor support as necessary for maximum branch efficiency.
  7. Communicate customer order and delivery requirements effectively through internal channels with all specific sourcing information.
  8. Receive and process nonconformances, initiating immediate containment actions to satisfy customers.
  9. Respond to all job function and customers' requests with a strong sense of urgency.
  10. Establish pricing and gross margin levels at assigned accounts.
  11. Participate in all necessary Quality initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years proven sales experience in the electrical construction market.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical products sold by McNaughton-McKay.
  • Technical and planning skills required.
  • Thorough knowledge of project drawings, specifications understanding, and the ability to take off product bills of material from same.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Work history demonstrating self-motivation and self-management.
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Writer.
Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Construction Sales Manager.
