Position Overview:

Arcadis is seeking a skilled Resident Inspector specializing in Water/Wastewater projects, requiring a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, to contribute to our Resilience Water team on various projects.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to engage locally with support from one of the most esteemed municipal consulting firms in the industry. As a Resident Inspector, you will leverage your expertise and technical acumen to effectively oversee and manage water and wastewater infrastructure construction initiatives, collaborating closely with Project Managers, Clients, and Contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive oversight and management throughout all stages of water and sewer projects.
  • Evaluate plans and specifications for assigned projects, participate in pre-construction meetings, progress discussions, safety briefings, and bid openings.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure quality of work, adherence to testing protocols, inspection standards, and construction methodologies.
  • Maintain detailed daily logs of construction activities, tracking progress, personnel, equipment, and resource utilization. Regularly update the Arcadis Project Manager and Client on project status.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with the project schedule.
  • Review and address contractor inquiries, change order requests, and payment applications.
  • Act as a liaison with office staff to obtain necessary field information for correspondence, RFIs, and shop drawing reviews.
  • Ensure that materials utilized in projects comply with approved plans, specifications, and local regulations on behalf of Clients and Project Managers.
  • Guide and mentor junior Resident Engineers/Inspectors to guarantee proper execution of duties and timely completion of inspection documentation.
  • Assess contractor, subcontractor, and supplier performance, addressing any issues with clients and managers, including deviations from project plans.
  • Utilize effective oral and written communication skills to engage in meetings regarding project progress, safety, scheduling, and contract administration with clients, contractors, local agencies, and the community.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology or Construction Management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of substantial Construction Management / Resident Inspection experience.
  • Familiarity with new pipeline construction and trenchless technology sewer rehabilitation methods, including cured-in-place pipelining.
  • Previous experience as an Inspector or Junior Resident Engineer on water/wastewater construction projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Experience in processing RFIs, maintaining time-and-material records, managing contractor payment requests, negotiating change orders, and supporting claim resolutions.
  • Must possess a valid US driver's license.
