Mechanical Engineer for Rubber Manufacturing

The role of the Technical Engineer focuses on delivering specialized knowledge to enhance product innovation and streamline manufacturing processes within the rubber products sector. This position involves proactive communication with management regarding any operational challenges encountered.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Formulate and oversee a comprehensive engineering timeline for all initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Draft specifications for machinery and tools, supervising the design, assembly, installation, and testing phases in accordance with the established timeline.
- Compile necessary documentation for capital expenditures and secure necessary approvals from senior management.
- Design manufacturing workflows that align with key performance indicators (KPIs) related to investment, cost efficiency, waste reduction, product quality, delivery timelines, layout optimization, cycle time, and safety standards.
- Generate all pertinent documentation for processes, including specifications, PFMEAs, risk assessments, process plans, flow diagrams, work instructions, and capacity evaluations.
- Facilitate and promote continuous improvement initiatives post-production.
- Engage in proactive measures to develop processes that minimize defect transfer between stages, while addressing existing issues and sharing solutions across similar operations.
- Conduct thorough investigations and problem-solving exercises utilizing root cause analysis techniques.
- Adhere to all relevant safety and environmental regulations, ensuring compliance with best practices.
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles.
- Design expertise for manufacturing equipment and tooling.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients and suppliers.
- Proven project management capabilities and leadership experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create technical documents and presentations.
- Competence in interpreting technical drawings and leading design assessments.
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis for existing and potential issues.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and the Toyota Production System.
- A commitment to high productivity and ownership of project outcomes.
- An aptitude for understanding engineering concepts and new technologies.
- Knowledge of TS and ISO standards.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Experience in a multicultural work environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
COMMUNICATION ABILITIES
Ability to comprehend and interpret various technical documents, including safety guidelines and operational procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective reporting and team interactions.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, Project) and familiarity with drafting software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
MATHEMATICAL COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of advanced mathematical concepts including calculus and trigonometry, with the ability to perform complex calculations and apply statistical analysis techniques.
REASONING SKILLS
Ability to identify problems, gather relevant data, and draw logical conclusions. Proficient in interpreting technical instructions and managing multiple variables.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands of this role include regular use of hands for handling equipment and tools, standing for extended periods, and occasionally lifting items up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity for close and distant tasks is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is typically performed in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to mechanical equipment and varying noise levels.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time role, with standard hours from Monday to Friday. Overtime may be necessary based on project demands.
