Job Summary

The Canyons School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Student Support Classroom Teacher. This position requires a strong background in education, with a focus on providing academic services and behavioral supports to students who have been suspended for longer than ten days.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with at-risk students to support behavioral and academic progress
  • Provide academic instruction and support to students in a small, blended-learning class setting
  • Evaluate student skills and academic progress, and develop strategies to support student achievement
  • Coordinate with schools of record to ensure students receive appropriate work and academic resources
  • Compile and interpret data to inform decisions and increase student achievement
Requirements
  • At least three years of teaching experience
  • Skills working with at-risk students, including knowledge of effective behavior interventions
  • Current secondary teaching license
  • Professional Educator License for the State of Utah
  • Basic computer literacy skills, including major software
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in written form
  • Skills in working with diverse groups, building consensus, and maintaining focus on student needs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a similar role or with similar populations
  • Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
Working Conditions

The Student Support Classroom Teacher will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, parents, and school staff. The ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and composure in stressful situations is essential.
