Position Overview:
GovCIO is currently seeking a Senior
Systems Operations Engineer to deliver operational and integration support for a diverse vendor infrastructure, encompassing various networks, systems, and virtual training environment (VTE) vendors.
On-site requirements will be determined by project needs.This role involves evaluating the technical capabilities of company products alongside competing equipment and solutions, while keeping up with advancements in hardware and software.
The engineer will generate measurable requirements based on customer specifications, system planning, and design, ensuring compliance through formal verification methods.
Additionally, this position translates high-level product development strategies into detailed network and system requirement specifications, collaborating with other engineering disciplines to formulate lower-level implementation requirements.
Establishing and coordinating the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to overall network and system development is essential. The engineer will design interfaces and integrate network and system components to function cohesively. Performance will be assessed using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.Work in a dynamic environment alongside a team of specialized engineers, providing engineering and implementation support for integration, modernization, and new installations for international partners.
Demonstrating technical proficiency is crucial, ensuring mission-critical infrastructure achieves the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. Qualified candidates will possess a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.Responsibilities include coordinating the planning, design, and installation of equipment, utilizing knowledge of engineering and programming, as well as advanced instruments and computing systems.
The engineer will install new hardware, systems, and software for networks.Responsibilities also include designing, creating, and building network services, equipment, and devices.
Monitoring system performance and implementing performance enhancements is key.
Participation in the testing process to validate requirements is expected.
A solid understanding of networking principles (OSI network layers, TCP/IP) is required.
Experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows/UNIX/Linux server environments is essential.
A fundamental understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, security policies, and organizational units is necessary.
Familiarity with VMware and Hyper-V is preferred.
Critical Thinking Skills:
The ability to thrive in agile, flexible team environments is essential.
Knowledge of
Microsoft Office Tools:
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Strong communication and writing skills are required.
A valid US Passport is necessary, with readiness for up to 40% international travel to customer locations.
Proficiency with network drawing and productivity tools (Visio, Lucid, AutoCAD, etc.) is expected. Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Security+CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, CASP, etc.) is required.
Specific expertise, education, and training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
A military background in Signal, Communications, Cyber, or Information Technology is highly valued.
Microsoft Certified Systems Associate/Engineer (MCSA or MCSE) and CompTIA A+/Net+/Linux+/Server+ certifications are preferred, along with VMware Certified Professional and Certified Systems Engineering Professional or Certified Cloud Practitioner credentials.
