Job Overview

Position Objective: The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that the operational processes meet or exceed efficiency and quality standards set by the company while also adhering to environmental regulations. This role involves directing the activities of the production supervisors and teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive safety initiatives within the department to comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee the department's emergency response strategies and contribute to the overall plant emergency protocols.
  • Foster a safety-oriented culture to minimize workplace accidents.
  • Analyze incident reports and ensure that corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Prepare and deliver performance metrics, business proposals, and project updates to stakeholders.
  • Recommend training programs to enhance compliance with quality management standards.
  • Guide supervisors and team leaders in managing nonconforming materials.
  • Lead and participate in quality review processes.
  • Evaluate and authorize rework procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Encourage employee engagement to drive innovation and improvements in products and processes.
  • Facilitate daily meetings to identify challenges, develop solutions, and track progress.
  • Assess production plans against available resources to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Analyze delivery metrics and create plans for improvement.
  • Communicate potential risks related to delivery and quality to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction and efficiency enhancement.
  • Develop and oversee the department's workforce planning to meet labor efficiency and delivery targets.
  • Contribute to the annual budget planning and management for the department.
  • Handle employee time management and attendance requests.
  • Address employee relations matters promptly and escalate to HR when necessary.
  • Communicate important operational updates affecting staff well-being.
  • Promote a workplace culture that aligns with the company's values and competencies.
  • Set and monitor professional development goals for team leaders.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to supervisors.
  • Identify talent gaps and create development plans to enhance team performance.
  • Support supervisors in their leadership roles during the manager's absence.
  • Provide on-call support for employee issues across all shifts.
  • Timely escalation of significant issues following established protocols.
  • Review end-of-shift reports to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead weekly meetings focused on long-term strategies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all operations in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Support adherence to corporate health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality by following relevant standards and seeking continuous improvement.
  • Perform supervisory duties as required.
  • Undertake other assigned responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in automotive manufacturing operations.
  • A minimum of three years in a leadership role within a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in the automotive sector, particularly in robotic welding, is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in creating reports and presentations using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with SAP for various operational functions.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare relevant reports.
  • Skilled in interpreting statistical data to identify process control issues.
  • Capable of drafting clear instructions and correspondence.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and their application.
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience in project management and timely project completion.
