Position Objective: Oversee the comprehensive activities of production operations during the first shift. Strive to meet or surpass efficiency and corporate quality benchmarks by actively engaging in and guiding the efforts of team members across designated departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and supervision for the first shift production team.
- Advocate for and uphold the core values of the organization, emphasizing safety and quality.
- Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; maintain discipline and consistency in rule enforcement.
- Direct and implement SQCDP performance metrics for the assigned teams.
- Guarantee that working conditions align with Group HSE standards.
- Vigorously address any instances of non-compliance.
- Ensure adherence to standardized work practices through process verification and active observation.
- Maintain a constant presence on the production floor to facilitate effective shift transitions, train and mentor team leaders, and monitor adherence to operational standards.
- Engage with support departments to formulate action plans, monitor progress, and escalate recurring issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and other supervisors to meet the needs of internal customers.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet efficiency and timely delivery objectives.
- Take an active role in the Quick Problem Solving (QPS) process as needed.
- Ensure problems are addressed to their root causes.
- Verify the accurate and timely completion of EPT board documentation.
- Ensure that high-quality actions are recorded and executed according to plan.
- Facilitate effective daily EPT Top 5 meetings that add value.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and challenge the status quo.
- Oversee safety protocols and enforce safety policies during the shift.
- Maintain a fair and respectful workplace environment.
- Accountable for productivity, quality, and scrap reduction initiatives during the shift.
- Provide training, mentoring, and coaching to shift personnel, including team leaders and supervisors.
- Coordinate and prioritize maintenance resources for the shift.
- Ensure effective communication between shifts.
- Support and promote comprehensive utilization of SAP systems.
- Develop production schedules based on forecasts, customer commitments, and validated load/capacity assessments.
- Ensure product and process quality meets internal, industry, and customer standards.
- Lead initiatives to cultivate a Lean/Sigma continuous improvement culture within the production facility.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Conduct all business activities in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support adherence to all local and corporate health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in quality-related tasks and seek opportunities for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare relevant reports and projections.
- Proficient in mathematical concepts and operations.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence.
- Analytical skills to synthesize complex information and design workflows.
- Business acumen to understand the implications of decisions.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement practices for manufacturability.
- Familiarity with engineering fundamentals and automotive systems.
- Understanding of federal and state regulations.
- Project management skills to coordinate and complete projects on time and within budget.
- Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and knowledge.
