Job Overview

Objective:
To efficiently manage the loading and unloading of components into automated welding cells, as well as various assembly stations such as canning and stuffing. This role involves operating machinery including robotic welding cells and other assembly equipment to manufacture component parts or complete exhaust systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select and prepare appropriate components for loading into welding fixtures or cells.
  • Secure workpieces in holding fixtures on machine beds or turntables.
  • Initiate machine operations, monitor welding processes, and inspect welds for quality assurance.
  • Label completed exhaust systems or components and prepare them for leak testing.
  • Scan finished parts, conduct leak tests, and organize parts on in-process flow racks.
  • Document setup and production metrics accurately.
  • Engage in audit processes as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen, 5S, and TPM.
  • Operate machinery safely and report any unsafe practices or conditions to supervisors.
  • Identify and address production challenges, such as material shortages or quality issues.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all activities in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Support adherence to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and compliance with quality standards, including TS16949 and ISO 14001.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least three months of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of welding and metal forming techniques is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including potential overtime as needed.

Working Environment:

  • This position requires working indoors in environments with mechanical hazards, fumes, and varying temperatures.
  • Exposure to moving parts and airborne particles is expected.

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting: Occasionally.
  • Standing: Continuously.
  • Walking: Occasionally.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Regularly lifting up to 20 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Reaching: Frequently.
  • Bending/Stooping: Frequently.
  • Hand Use: Frequent pushing/pulling and occasional manipulation.
