Job Overview

Position Objective: The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that the manufacturing processes align with efficiency and quality standards while adhering to environmental regulations. This role involves overseeing the activities of the production team and implementing strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive safety enhancement initiatives within the department to comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee the department's emergency response strategies and contribute to the overall plant emergency protocols.
  • Foster a safety-oriented culture to mitigate the risk of accidents.
  • Analyze incident reports and ensure the execution of corrective measures.
  • Compile and present performance metrics, business proposals, and project updates to stakeholders.
  • Advise on training programs to bolster adherence to quality management standards.
  • Guide supervisors and team leaders in managing nonconforming materials effectively.
  • Facilitate level 2 red box reviews and participate in level 3 reviews.
  • Assess and approve rework processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Review customer feedback and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Encourage a culture of employee engagement to stimulate innovation and improvements.
  • Lead daily meetings to identify operational challenges and develop corrective strategies.
  • Attend strategic meetings to communicate constraints and secure necessary support.
  • Validate production schedules against available resources.
  • Monitor and analyze delivery performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Communicate potential delivery and quality risks to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction and efficiency enhancement.
  • Oversee the department's workforce planning to meet labor efficiency and delivery targets.
  • Manage the departmental budget and ensure financial accountability.
  • Supervise employee time management and address time-off requests.
  • Ensure prompt handling of employee relations issues, escalating to HR when necessary.
  • Communicate essential information regarding shift changes and overtime requirements.
  • Promote a workplace culture that reflects the company's core values and competencies.
  • Set and evaluate development goals for supervisory staff.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Identify skill gaps and facilitate learning opportunities for team members.
  • Empower selected supervisors to take on additional responsibilities in the manager's absence.
  • Provide on-call support for employee concerns across all shifts.
  • Timely escalation of serious issues according to established protocols.
  • Review end-of-shift reports to identify and address negative trends.
  • Lead weekly focus meetings to strategize on reducing waste and enhancing efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all business activities in compliance with applicable legal standards.
  • Support adherence to corporate health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Ensure quality standards are met in accordance with industry regulations.
  • Perform supervisory duties as required.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in automotive manufacturing operations.
  • A minimum of three years in a leadership role within a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in the automotive sector, particularly in robotic welding, is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in creating reports and presentations using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with SAP for various operational processes.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and generate reports.
  • Skilled in interpreting statistical data to identify process control issues.
  • Capable of drafting clear instructions and correspondence.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and their application.
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience in project management and team leadership.
