The Nutritional Services Associate plays a crucial role in the execution of the Child and Adult Food Program. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of program guidelines and expectations. The associate collaborates closely with the CACFP Coordinator to ensure adherence to regulations and seeks guidance when necessary.

Working alongside the educational team, the associate ensures compliance with program standards while addressing the unique needs of each child. Reporting directly to the Site Director, the associate engages in a collaborative approach, respecting the organization’s overall mission.

Key Responsibilities

Administration / CACFP
  • Manage food purchase orders effectively.
  • Prepare and serve balanced meals, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks for preschool-aged children.
  • Oversee the distribution and delivery of meals to classrooms.
  • Track daily student attendance and organize meals for family-style service.
  • Ensure all families complete the CACFP Eligibility Application prior to their child's enrollment, maintaining a log of applications and eligibility status. (Cook Only)
  • Receive food deliveries and verify invoices for accuracy.
  • Submit invoices to the fiscal department weekly.
  • Maintain records of student allergies and ensure compliance with dietary needs.
  • Prepare meal settings for designated meal times.
  • Keep an inventory of food and related supplies.
  • Complete monthly Meal Count Reports (Food Worker Only)
  • Cross-check attendance with meal counts for monthly reporting (Food Worker Only)
  • Submit CACFP vouchers by the designated deadlines (Food Worker Only)
Health and Safety
  • Adhere to center policies regarding student care and discipline.
  • Foster a safe and healthy environment.
  • Manage kitchen organization and operations.
  • Implement the center's Crisis Management Plan.
  • Ensure sanitary food preparation and storage practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen facilities and equipment.
Communication
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of families and children.
  • Establish effective communication with colleagues and supervisors.
Professional Development
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with staff and supervisors for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities.
  • Attend staff meetings regularly.
  • Complete training on food preparation and safety.
General Requirements
  • Follow state regulations for child care centers.
  • Uphold organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred two years of experience in meal preparation for educational settings.

Physical Requirements
