Position Summary

The JUNTA DE ACCION PUERTORIQUENA INC is a multifaceted human services organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children, families, and seniors in the community. Our mission is to provide essential support to low and moderate-income residents, empowering them to achieve self-sufficiency and a better quality of life.

The Nutritional Services Worker plays a crucial role in executing the Child and Adult Food Program. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of program guidelines and expectations. The individual will collaborate closely with the CACFP Coordinator to ensure adherence to regulations and seek assistance when necessary.

Working alongside the educational team, the Nutritional Services Worker will help meet the unique needs of each child while reporting to the Site Director, ensuring a cooperative and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities

Administration / CACFP
  • Manage food purchasing orders.
  • Prepare and serve balanced meals including breakfast, lunch, and snacks for preschool-aged children.
  • Oversee the distribution of meals to classrooms.
  • Collect daily attendance data from classrooms and organize meals accordingly.
  • Ensure all families complete the CACFP Eligibility Application for each child prior to enrollment.
  • Receive and verify food deliveries, ensuring invoices match delivered items.
  • Submit weekly invoices to the fiscal department.
  • Maintain records of student allergies and ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Prepare meal times efficiently.
  • Keep inventory of food and related supplies.
  • Complete monthly meal and attendance reports.
  • Cross-reference attendance with meal counts for reporting purposes.
  • Submit CACFP vouchers by the required deadlines.
Health and Safety
  • Adhere to center policies regarding student care and discipline.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy kitchen environment.
  • Organize and manage kitchen operations effectively.
  • Follow the center's Crisis Management Plan.
  • Ensure sanitary food preparation and storage practices.
  • Conduct regular cleaning of kitchen facilities and equipment.
Communication
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of families and children.
  • Foster positive communication with colleagues and supervisors.
Professional Development
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
