Position Overview:

The Fire Protection Service Technician is responsible for the installation of certified firestop and smoke-stop systems, which are essential for maintaining the integrity of fire-rated structures. This role involves following precise guidelines to guarantee proper installation.

Work will primarily take place in healthcare and commercial environments, often in diverse indoor and outdoor conditions. The technician will be accountable for the meticulous application of firestop materials in hospitals and commercial properties, ensuring effective sealing of fire-rated walls, floors, and ceilings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of firestop barriers in accordance with NFPA standards and document findings using digital tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various facility systems, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Install access points in ductwork.
  • Assist in drywall installation and repairs.
  • Manage the loading and unloading of application materials.
  • Prepare surfaces for application processes.
  • Utilize standard hand tools effectively.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Provide thorough documentation to ensure compliance with safety codes.
  • Record repairs that are incomplete and gather specifications for necessary materials.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with clients.
  • Participate in required training sessions.
  • Willingness to travel extensively is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in firestop inspection, repair, and installation.
  • Experience in commercial drywall repair and installation.
  • Familiarity with fire caulking techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using iOS devices and electronic reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of life safety plans and NFPA regulations.
  • Hilti and STI certifications are preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands for handling tools, reach, climb, and maintain balance. Candidates must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally and may be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
  • Successful completion of a drug screening, background check, and driver's license verification is necessary.
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of the time is required.
