Position Overview

We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer with a robust background and a minimum of eight years of professional experience in the field. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive skill set that includes, but is not limited to:

  • Design of automatic suppression systems
  • Development of fire detection, alarm, and communication systems
  • Code and egress analysis
  • Fire-resistant construction assessments
  • Smoke control evaluations

This role encompasses a wide range of fire protection and life safety concepts, along with extensive research capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and nurture client relationships while pursuing new business opportunities and crafting proposals.
  • Oversee project management for multiple assignments, including planning, staffing, financial oversight, and ensuring successful project completion.
  • Provide expert fire protection consulting services to a diverse clientele, including architects, developers, owners, government entities, and insurers.
  • Offer consulting on fire and life safety codes in accordance with relevant ICC (IBC, IFC, IMC) codes and NFPA standards.
  • Develop and analyze fire models, smoke control systems, and pressurization strategies.
  • Conduct reviews and provide consulting for compliance with life safety, building, and fire codes.
  • Perform structural fire calculations and devise fire safety strategies for unique hazards.
  • Deliver both prescriptive and performance-based design strategies.
  • Design and commission fire alarm, detection, and suppression systems.
  • Conduct site visits and liaise with authorities having jurisdiction, architects, contractors, and consulting teams.
  • Lead internal team meetings and client discussions.
  • Present design strategies to relevant authorities.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams and offices in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Manage project profitability while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Engage in research and documentation for both internal and external purposes.
  • Participate in local and national trade organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering from an accredited institution in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Sciences, or a related field.
  • A minimum of six years of professional experience in Fire Protection.
  • At least two years of project management experience.
  • A P.E. license in Fire Protection Engineering or actively pursuing this credential.
  • Exceptional communication skills essential for a collaborative and leadership-oriented environment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills necessary for a dynamic workplace; must be proactive and eager to embrace new challenges.
  • Proficient in relevant software, including FDS, CONTAM, egress modeling software, AutoCAD, Revit, BlueBeam, and the Microsoft Office suite.
