Senior Project Manager - Civil Engineering (Solid Waste)

Job Overview

As a Senior Project Manager within the Waste Management division at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc., you will oversee project teams to execute engineering assignments including airspace and earthwork volume assessments, and the preparation and evaluation of technical documentation. Your role will also encompass the design of stormwater management systems, leachate collection frameworks, and landfill gas extraction systems, alongside conducting geotechnical evaluations and developing landfill grading plans.

Your responsibilities will extend to formulating proposals, establishing project budgets and timelines, supervising engineering personnel, and ensuring quality assurance. You will engage with clients, contractors, and governmental bodies, influencing the project lifecycle from initial concepts and design stages through regulatory assessments, bidding processes, and construction phases.

Moreover, you will collaborate with management to mentor and support the professional growth of team members, which includes conducting annual performance evaluations and setting developmental objectives. Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience or a suitable combination of education and experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline), with a Master's degree preferred;
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, with registration in relevant jurisdictions or the ability to obtain it;
  • Proficiency in technical software and Civil Engineering tools, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling applications, and geotechnical modeling programs;
  • Established relationships within the Solid Waste sector;
  • Capability to manage project portfolios exceeding $500,000 in annual professional fees;
  • Experience in developing service scopes and budgets (proposals) with a proven track record of profitable project management;
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a professional context;
  • Active participation in client and professional development organizations;
  • Exceptional communication abilities (both verbal and written), with experience in liaising with staff, clients, contractors, and regulatory officials;
  • Expertise in coordinating the regulatory agency review process.
