Senior Project Manager - Civil Engineering (Solid Waste)
Job Overview
As a Senior Project Manager specializing in Solid Waste Management at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc., you will oversee project teams to execute engineering assignments. These tasks include conducting airspace and earthwork volume assessments, preparing and evaluating technical documentation, designing systems for stormwater management, leachate collection, and landfill gas extraction, as well as performing geotechnical evaluations and drafting landfill grading plans along with project specifications.
Your role will involve direct responsibility for crafting proposals, managing project budgets and timelines, supervising engineering personnel, and ensuring quality control. You will engage with clients, contractors, and governmental bodies, influencing the project lifecycle from initial concepts and design through regulatory reviews, bidding processes, and construction phases.
Additionally, you will collaborate with management to mentor staff and support their professional growth, including conducting annual performance reviews and setting developmental objectives. Qualifications
- 10-15 years of relevant experience or a suitable combination of education and experience;
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline); Master's degree preferred;
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure, with registration in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain it;
- Proficiency in technical software and Civil Engineering tools, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling applications, and geotechnical modeling software;
- Established connections within the Solid Waste sector;
- Capability to manage project portfolios exceeding $500,000 in annual professional fees;
- Experience in developing service scopes and budgets (proposals) with a proven track record of profitable project management;
- Strong problem-solving skills in a professional environment;
- Active participation in client and professional development organizations;
- Exceptional communication abilities (both verbal and written), including experience liaising with staff, clients, contractors, and regulatory officials;
- Expertise in coordinating the regulatory agency review process.
