Senior Project Manager - Civil Engineering (Waste Management)

Position Overview

As a Senior Project Manager specializing in Civil Engineering within the Waste Management sector at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will oversee project teams to execute engineering tasks, including calculations for airspace and earthwork volumes, as well as the preparation and evaluation of technical documentation. Your responsibilities will encompass the design of stormwater management systems, leachate collection systems, and landfill gas collection systems, alongside conducting geotechnical analyses and developing landfill grading plans with detailed specifications.

Your role will also involve the direct management of proposal development, project budgeting, and scheduling, while supervising engineering personnel and ensuring quality control throughout the project lifecycle. You will engage with clients, contractors, and governmental bodies, influencing the project from initial concepts and design phases through regulatory reviews, bidding processes, and construction execution.

Moreover, you will collaborate with management teams to mentor and guide staff in their professional growth, including conducting annual performance evaluations and setting developmental objectives. Our senior management will partner with you to tailor your career trajectory through various professional development and mentoring initiatives aimed at enhancing your project management, leadership, and business development capabilities.



Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience or a suitable combination of education and experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline), with a Master's degree preferred;
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure, with registration in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain it;
  • Proficiency in technical software and Civil Engineering technologies, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software, and geotechnical modeling tools;
  • Established relationships within the Solid Waste sector;
  • Capability to manage project portfolios exceeding $500,000 in annual professional fees;
  • Experience in developing service scopes and budgets (proposals) with a proven track record of profitable project management;
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a professional context;
  • Active participation in client and professional development organizations;
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience in liaising with staff, clients, contractors, and regulatory officials;
  • Ability to coordinate the regulatory agency review process.
