Role Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineering professionals on NPI projects, ensuring alignment with manufacturing engineering standards.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, manufacturing process plans, and resolve intricate manufacturing challenges.
  • Establish and uphold company standards for engineering activities, consulting with senior management on business opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/A) assessments for externally produced designs, providing cost estimates to the NPD teams.
  • Communicate progress and results effectively within the team and to engineering management.
  • Oversee team management, including recruitment, training, and performance assessments to maximize efficiency.
  • Implement risk management strategies to mitigate business and technical risks associated with projects.
  • Foster a culture of operational success through empowerment and coaching of team members.
  • Develop comprehensive manufacturing strategies, recommending supplier selections to meet project timelines and cost objectives.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to conduct feasibility studies and ensure optimized manufacturing processes.
  • Engage in cross-functional teamwork to brainstorm solutions and drive innovative design concepts.
  • Contribute to the development of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and operational strategies related to medical devices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field is required. An advanced degree such as a Master's in Engineering or an MBA is preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • At least six (6) years of relevant professional experience in manufacturing engineering and new product introductions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing technical projects within a regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management, and financial analysis methods.
  • Proficient in three-dimensional modeling and engineering calculations.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and adaptability in project execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred:

  • Experience with process validation procedures and documentation.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and their application in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with FDA, ISO, and GMP requirements in the medical device industry.

Travel Requirements:

This position may require occasional domestic and/or international travel.
