Position Overview:

As a Senior Project Manager specializing in Civil Engineering within the Waste Management sector at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will oversee project teams tasked with executing engineering assignments. These tasks include conducting airspace and earthwork volume assessments, preparing and reviewing technical documentation, designing systems for stormwater management, leachate collection, and landfill gas collection, performing geotechnical evaluations, and developing landfill grading plans along with project specifications.

Your role will encompass the responsibility of crafting proposals, managing project budgets and timelines, supervising engineering personnel, and ensuring quality control. Your interactions with clients, contractors, and governmental bodies will significantly influence the project lifecycle—from initial conceptualization and design through regulatory reviews, bidding processes, and construction phases.

Moreover, you will collaborate with management teams to mentor and support the professional growth of staff members, which includes conducting annual performance evaluations and setting developmental objectives. Concurrently, senior management will work with you to tailor your career trajectory through diverse professional development and mentoring initiatives focused on enhancing your project management, leadership, and business development capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience or a suitable combination of education and experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline); a Master's degree is preferred;
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure, with registration in the relevant state or the ability to obtain it;
  • Proficiency in technical software and Civil Engineering technologies, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools, and geotechnical modeling applications;
  • Established relationships within the Solid Waste sector;
  • Capability to manage project portfolios exceeding $500,000 in annual professional fee revenues;
  • Experience in developing service scopes and budgets (proposals) with a proven track record of profitable project management;
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a professional context;
  • Active participation in client and professional development organizations;
  • Exceptional communication abilities (both verbal and written), including experience liaising with staff, clients, contractors, and regulatory officials;
  • Expertise in coordinating the regulatory agency review process.
