Position Overview:

The Technologies Account Manager is tasked with fostering and nurturing client relationships while overseeing preconstruction activities within the Technologies division. This role is pivotal in the development and estimation of both large and small-scale technology projects, including telecommunications, access control, distributed antenna systems, and audio/visual installations. Daily responsibilities encompass conducting market research, sourcing project materials, supporting team members throughout project execution, scheduling, and maintaining project documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Formulate strategic objectives to align with the company's business ambitions. Collaborate with the management team to establish strategies for retaining existing clients and attracting new ones.
  • Design and implement a business development action plan, focusing on targeted customer engagement.
  • Conduct thorough research to identify and prioritize potential clients. Engage with clients to assess their operational needs and the feasibility of EMCOR's services, maintaining a log for regular discussions with management.
  • Devise strategies to enhance bidding competitiveness.

Account Management

  • Provide design assistance, collaborating with project teams on design-build initiatives and supporting design development.
  • Offer estimating support by preparing budget proposals and collaborating with project managers on technology project estimates. Participate in bid evaluations.
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor pricing requests during the bidding phase, evaluating quotes to ensure best value is included in proposals.
  • Assess projects for value engineering opportunities, considering specific job conditions that may impact labor and material costs.
  • Develop and oversee proposals, proactively identifying potential challenges and crafting solutions. Prepare cost proposals for clients and engage in team selection processes.
  • Facilitate the customer interview process, working with marketing to create impactful presentations and preparing team members for interviews.
  • Oversee the contract review and approval workflow, coordinating with the contracts department to ensure timely approvals.
  • Initiate project kick-offs, organizing teams and leading meetings to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors and clients to foster future business opportunities.
  • Assist with change order pricing as necessary, meeting with clients to clarify and justify pricing adjustments.
  • Prepare Work In Progress reports for monthly meetings with senior management.
  • Keep the Technologies Division Manager and relevant stakeholders informed about bid progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, building science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating or project management within low voltage electrical contracting or a related area.
  • RCDD Certification is preferred.
  • PMP Certification is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction processes and project management principles.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as Bluebeam and Accubid software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking capabilities and strong leadership qualities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions:

This position is primarily office-based, with typical working hours from Monday to Friday. However, extended hours may be required as project deadlines approach, including occasional weekend work. Some travel may be necessary for training and professional development.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Direct Reports:

This position reports to the Technologies Division Manager and collaborates with Labor Superintendents, Project Managers, and the Estimating Department.
