Position Overview:

The Technologies Account Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering and sustaining client relationships while overseeing preconstruction activities within the Technologies sector. This role encompasses the development and estimation of diverse technology projects, including telecommunications, access control, distributed antenna systems, and audio/visual solutions. Daily responsibilities include conducting market research, sourcing project materials, collaborating with team members throughout project lifecycles, scheduling, and providing regular updates on project status.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Establish objectives and strategies to align with the company’s growth ambitions. Collaborate with the management team to enhance customer retention and attract new clients.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive business development action plan, targeting specific client segments.
  • Conduct thorough research to identify and prioritize potential clients. Engage with clients to assess their operational needs and the potential for collaboration with EMCOR.
  • Devise strategies to enhance bidding competitiveness.

Account Management

  • Provide design assistance, collaborating with project teams on design-build initiatives and supporting design refinement.
  • Assist in estimating project costs, preparing budget proposals, and participating in bid evaluations.
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor pricing requests during the bidding phase, ensuring competitive and value-driven proposals.
  • Evaluate projects for potential value engineering opportunities, considering specific job conditions that may influence labor and material costs.
  • Develop and oversee project proposals, proactively identifying challenges and formulating solutions. Prepare cost proposals for clients and participate in team selection processes.
  • Facilitate the customer interview process, collaborating with marketing to create impactful presentations and preparing team members for interviews.
  • Oversee the contract review and approval workflow, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Lead project kick-off meetings, coordinating teams to ensure effective project initiation.
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors and clients to support future business opportunities.
  • Assist in managing change orders and effectively communicate pricing adjustments to clients.
  • Prepare work-in-progress reports for monthly management meetings.
  • Keep the Technologies Division Manager and relevant stakeholders informed about bidding progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, building science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating or project management within low voltage electrical contracting or a related industry.
  • Preferred certifications: RCDD and PMP.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and project management principles.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, and Accubid.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions:

This position is primarily office-based, with typical working hours from Monday to Friday. However, flexibility is required to meet project deadlines, which may necessitate extended hours or occasional weekend work. Some travel may be necessary for training and professional development.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Direct Reports:

This position reports to the Technologies Division Manager and collaborates with Labor Superintendents, Project Managers, and the Estimating Department.
