Senior Associate Scientist in Translational Medicine and Imaging Biomarkers

Biogen's Translational Medicine Biomarkers Imaging division is at the forefront of a cutting-edge molecular imaging research initiative, focusing on the discovery and evaluation of radiotracers and methodologies applicable to drug development.
Key Responsibilities
We are in search of a dedicated scientist with a strong background in both plate-based and tissue-based pharmacology techniques utilizing radioligands in various biological systems, both in vitro and in vivo. The role will primarily be laboratory-focused (80-90%) and will involve close collaboration with other Imaging team members as well as cross-functional program teams.
- Assess the pharmacological properties of leading small molecules in vitro and in vivo using diverse molecular imaging techniques.
- Employ radiolabeled compounds such as [3H] and [18F] to conduct molecular pharmacology assays.
- Perform in vitro and ex vivo radioligand binding for plate-based and autoradiographic brain imaging.
- Process human and rodent tissues, including cryostat brain slicing and homogenate preparation for protein target isolation.
- Develop assays and methodologies for plate-based and ex vivo brain imaging studies.
- Handle animals, including brain dissection and administration of compounds or radioisotopes.
- Utilize target identification techniques such as immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence.
- Present findings at team meetings and internal forums.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, results-driven scientist with excellent communication skills who thrives in a collaborative setting. You will support a team of scientists in the preclinical discovery of innovative Biomarker PET tracers for clinical trials focused on neurological disorders.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4-6 years of industry experience in pharmaceuticals/biotechnology or a CRO, or a Master’s degree with at least 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in plate-based pharmacology techniques.
- Experience in compound handling and solution preparation.
- Knowledge of radioisotope handling.
- Background in assay development and optimization.
- Experience with rodent handling, compound dosing, and tissue dissection.
- Familiarity with immunohistochemistry (IHC) techniques for target detection in brain slices.
Preferred:
- Understanding of therapeutic areas in neurology, particularly neurodegenerative diseases.
