Position Overview:

As a Senior Scientist in Large Animal Pharmacology, you will play a pivotal role in advancing drug discovery initiatives targeting obesity, atherosclerosis, and heart failure. Your expertise will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the CRO team to develop large animal models for cardiac and metabolic dysfunction, facilitating pharmacokinetic (PK), pharmacodynamic (PD), and target engagement (TE) studies.
  • Conduct hemodynamic evaluations utilizing surgically implanted telemetry systems.
  • Serve as the principal in vivo pharmacologist on various drug discovery projects.
  • Support drug discovery efforts by executing PK/PD and efficacy studies.
  • Present findings in laboratory and departmental meetings, ensuring clear communication of results.
  • Assist in the preparation of research reports to support regulatory submissions.
  • Work alongside the veterinary team to uphold the highest standards of animal welfare and study integrity.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or a recently completed PhD in life sciences is preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing and analyzing large animal models of cardiac and metabolic dysfunction, particularly with nonhuman primates (NHPs).
  • Experience with rodent models is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated expertise in experimental design and execution.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary scientific team.
  • Basic statistical knowledge and familiarity with common statistical software for biomedical research.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with meticulous record-keeping abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to locations where NHP studies are conducted.
