Research Laboratory Supervisor - Neuroscience Division

Position Overview

The Research Laboratory Supervisor plays a crucial role in providing both administrative and research assistance to the Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team within the Neuroscience Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ethics Compliance: Develop, update, and manage Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and data security.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee procurement and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies, including technology and research materials.
  • Access Control: Manage credentials and access for laboratory systems and equipment.
  • Financial Administration: Handle payments for research participants, including tracking and record-keeping.
  • Data Management: Assist with data collection and management, including training team members on relevant software platforms.
  • Recruitment Support: Facilitate the hiring process for research positions, including drafting job postings and managing contracts.
  • Onboarding: Assist new researchers with orientation and compliance tasks, integrating them into the lab's communication systems.
  • Communication Coordination: Manage internal and external communications, including scheduling meetings and promoting lab activities.
  • Administrative Support: Aid the PI with grant applications, manuscript preparation, and liaising with institutional administration.
  • Research Assistance: Support the PI and lab members in various research activities, including data analysis and protocol development.
  • Literature Research: Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on topics pertinent to ongoing research.
  • Training Development: Create instructional materials and guides for laboratory equipment usage.
  • Networking: Foster professional relationships to enhance the lab's visibility and collaboration opportunities.

This role offers the chance to engage directly in research initiatives and explore personal research interests under the guidance of the PI.

Work Environment

Reporting directly to the PI, the Research Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the operational management of the lab and supporting the research endeavors of graduate and post-graduate trainees.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Science, Engineering).
  • A minimum of two years of research experience.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience in laboratory administration.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as Python or MATLAB, along with familiarity with relevant software.
