The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the Laboratory Department and its testing operations within a Critical Access Hospital. The role encompasses a variety of critical functions including diagnostic testing, personnel supervision, budget management, quality assurance, supply procurement, contract negotiation, equipment selection and maintenance, compliance with regulatory standards, and the management of laboratory coding and billing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic testing procedures essential for disease identification and treatment
  • Supervise and mentor laboratory staff
  • Manage departmental budgets and uphold quality assurance standards
  • Oversee the procurement of laboratory supplies and negotiate service contracts
  • Select, acquire, and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements
  • Maintain comprehensive laboratory policies, procedures, and coding/billing protocols

Requirements:

  • Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with dress code

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology
  • Licensure/Certifications:
  • Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • Current Health Care Licensure in the State of Washington
  • Experience:
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting within an acute care hospital (non-waived testing)
  • Minimum of one year in a supervisory role
  • Meets CLIA classifications: Technical supervisor (high complexity testing) for all areas excluding immunohematology; General supervisor (high complexity testing) for immunohematology
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years of experience in laboratory management
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and accreditation processes in laboratory operations
  • Familiarity with the Cerner electronic health record system
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus
