The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the comprehensive management of the Laboratory Department and its testing protocols within a Critical Access Hospital. This role encompasses a variety of duties including conducting diagnostic tests, overseeing staff, managing financial resources, ensuring compliance with quality standards, sourcing laboratory supplies, negotiating service contracts, selecting and maintaining laboratory equipment, adhering to regulatory guidelines, and managing billing and coding processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic testing procedures essential for the identification and treatment of diseases
- Oversee and guide laboratory personnel
- Manage departmental budgets and uphold quality assurance standards
- Source and procure necessary supplies while negotiating favorable contracts
- Select, acquire, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements
- Maintain and update laboratory policies, procedures, and billing/coding practices
Requirements:
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code
- Complete all annual training and job-specific educational requirements
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Wear identification while performing duties
- Participate in staff meetings and review meeting minutes
- Arrive on time and complete work within scheduled hours
- Safeguard employee and patient confidentiality

- Engage in departmental performance improvement initiatives

Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Current Health Care Licensure in the State of Washington
- Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting within an acute care hospital (non-waived testing)
- At least one year of supervisory experience
- Meets CLIA classifications: Technical supervisor (high complexity testing) for all areas excluding immunohematology; General supervisor (high complexity testing) for immunohematology
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years of experience in laboratory management
- Experience with regulatory compliance and accreditation processes for laboratory operations
- Familiarity with the Cerner electronic health record system
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
