Laboratory Operations Manager

JRAD is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Manager to oversee the daily operations of our laboratory facilities in Washington, DC.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratories, including the management of inventory, maintenance of equipment, and coordination of waste disposal.
This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as a deep understanding of laboratory operations and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Inventory Management: Oversee the management of all laboratory materials, consumables, equipment, instrumentation, and engineering controls.
- Reporting and Scheduling: Provide regular reports detailing inventory levels, burn rates, projected needs, and personnel status.
- Supply Chain Management: Coordinate the ordering of supplies, materials, and consumables.
- Maintenance and Repair: Coordinate the maintenance, repair, calibration, and certification of laboratory instrumentation, equipment, and engineering controls.
- Safety and Waste Disposal: Coordinate basic safety and waste disposal procedures.
- Facility Maintenance: Coordinate facility maintenance requests with the Government representative.
- Instrument Replacement: Provide recommendations for lifecycle replacement of instruments, equipment, engineering controls, new technology purchases, and material replacements and/or changes.
- Procedure Reviews: Perform laboratory procedure reviews and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Research and Development: Provide recommendations for laboratory research and development projects and new technologies.
- Leadership: Serve as a backup for the Laboratory Quality Manager.
- Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a biological, chemical, or physical science related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of recent related laboratory work experience in a certified public health or environmental laboratory.
- Leadership Experience: 2 years of demonstrated laboratory management, leadership, and decision-making experience.
- Hands-on Experience: 2 years of progressively complex hands-on experience in applicable analytical methods.
- Laboratory Safety: Extensive experience with laboratory safety and hazardous waste disposal.
- Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability.
