Siren Retail emphasizes craftsmanship and inclusivity across a variety of flagship locations, Starbucks Reserve Stores, and Princi Kitchens throughout the United States.

This role is crucial to Starbucks' success by guiding a team of partners to manage a profitable operation while delivering an outstanding Starbucks Reserve Experience for both customers and partners.

The Culinary Operations Leader will exercise discretion in overseeing the overall experience within their designated zone and store. This leader will specifically manage our Princi Zone at the Chicago Roastery, which serves as the core of our culinary offerings. Our menu features innovative, seasonal, sweet, and savory items designed to enhance our Roastery beverage selections.


Princi consists of two main components: our baking team, responsible for crafting our food offerings, and our baristas, who showcase these offerings through exceptional customer service.

This leader will drive the overall food program and culinary operations within the Roastery in collaboration with our nearby Princi Kitchen.

The Culinary Operations Leader is accountable for the customer and partner experience as well as the business performance of a store or specific zones, including revenue, waste management, inventory control, labor expenditure, and operational costs.

The leader is expected to embody and act in accordance with Starbucks' mission and values.

This position also entails collaboration with market and peer management teams, overseeing, directing, coaching, and training the workforce, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining product and brand quality, managing financial performance, and making staffing decisions.

Utilizing your leadership expertise, you will prioritize the following:


Leadership: Establishing objectives for the team, enhancing organizational capability, and exemplifying teamwork: Sets clear expectations, delegates responsibilities, and communicates essential practices to partners within their store or zone to ensure seamless operations.

Planning and Execution: Formulating strategic and operational plans for the team, managing implementation, and assessing outcomes: Directs and continuously enhances store and zone operations to align with overall store and corporate goals for operational excellence. Develops and executes strategies to boost sales while managing operational costs. Identifies trends and anticipates store or zone requirements.

Collaborates with peer management and partner teams to plan and execute initiatives that support overall store and business unit objectives.

Business Requirements: Delivering functional expertise and executing responsibilities: Manages retail business fundamentals for their store or zone: sales trends, inventory management, customer shopping behaviors, satisfaction, promotional strategies, etc. Utilizes tools and resources to analyze the business, make informed decisions, and plan for operational excellence. Tools and resources include financial, operational, safety, food safety, team, and customer metrics.

Develops specific strategies and plans that align with overall store and business priorities and leads a team to achieve sales targets and results.

Basic Qualifications:

5-7 years of progressive experience in retail or restaurant management within a complex environment. Experience supervising others. Availability for flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to consistently lift 35 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:
2-3 years of kitchen/culinary management experience or equivalent lower-level chef experience.

Experience in managing and controlling inventory and food waste.

Ability to establish systems and processes for comprehensive food operations.

Knowledge of production planning and food sampling.

Experience supporting catering or events in a food-forward and creative manner.


Experience analyzing financial reports to optimize business outcomes. Capability to manage store operations independently. Understanding of customer service techniques. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to build cohesive, collaborative teams through effective team-building skills. Experience in portfolio management. Proficiency in assessing talent and developing a talent pipeline strategy. Building a diverse team of high-performing partners. Exceptional leadership, interpersonal communication, and partner development skills. Strong organizational and planning abilities—capable of prioritizing workload. Excellent operational and problem-solving skills in a customer-service context. Highly motivated, self-directed, and results-oriented, with a proven ability to address complex challenges. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Capacity to identify opportunities and formulate action plans that control costs to optimize profits and ensure success.

Education: A college degree or a closely related field may substitute for a portion of the required experience. Proficiency in additional languages is beneficial. Must be 21 years of age or older. Starbucks is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
