Job Overview


The role involves collaborating closely with Design Engineers to create tools and engineered systems that enhance MPW operations in delivering services to a diverse customer base.

This position requires working in tandem with engineering, inventory management, fabrication, and paint and body departments to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness throughout the manufacturing and construction processes.

Responsibilities include project coordination tasks such as B.O.M. development, make/buy decisions, establishing quantity and quality standards, testing, fabrication, personnel coordination, capital budgeting, labor tracking, and planning for installation and commissioning.

The individual will be expected to contribute significantly to the design aspects of tooling and systems necessary for producing functional equipment utilized by the industrial cleaning operations team.

A particular emphasis will be placed on recommending design features that promote productivity, practicality, job site supply, safety and working conditions, operational ergonomics, and cost-efficiency.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate essential production issues through engineering, including challenges and proposed solutions.
  • Remain actively engaged in the design process and effectively communicate technical concepts and proposed modifications through appropriate channels.
  • Assist with material procurement in relation to purchase specifications, quality, delivery, warranty/field service, and plant service support, ensuring material requirements are communicated properly.
  • Review product designs for economical manufacturability practices and compliance with engineering principles, organizational standards, customer contract requirements, and relevant specifications.
  • Track project changes, update, and generate construction schedules as agreed upon with the project or engineering manager.
  • Understand and promote corporate safety standards in both equipment design and operational instructions.
  • Support fabrication, vendor/supplier coordination, and equipment assembly as required.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Occasionally collaborate with MPW operations to visit customer job sites and assess tooling and equipment requirements. This role will also involve working with the Corporate training department to educate employees on the operational features of new tools and equipment. Interaction with marketing and sales will be necessary regarding the introduction and promotion of new service capabilities developed through innovative tooling and cleaning systems. Due to the nature of the business as a 24/7 service provider, non-traditional hours may be a regular part of the job, including travel to various job site locations.
  • Periodic travel to customer facilities for field surveys and outage support will be required to assist corporate operations teams.

Required Experience:

Experience in machining and mechanical assembly related to the manufacturing of mechanical systems and integrated electronic controls.

  • Strong technical and mechanical skills that translate into constructive ideas for tooling and equipment development aimed at enhancing productivity and safety within MPW Operations.
  • Ability to prepare sketches and written descriptions of mechanical devices and system concepts that can be transformed into detailed designs for manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in all MS Office applications is essential.
  • Experience with water blast cleaning services is preferred.
  • Familiarity with mechanical codes and compliance standards is beneficial.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
