Position Overview:
Hendrickson Auxiliary Axle is seeking a dedicated Buyer/Planner to enhance our operational efficiency and contribute to our mission of delivering innovative ride solutions for the global commercial transportation sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the procurement of raw materials and oversee suppliers for commonly used components.
  • Negotiate pricing and resolve commercial matters with suppliers to ensure optimal agreements.
  • Facilitate effective communication between Hendrickson and suppliers throughout the PPAP process.
  • Execute MRP and JIT/KANBAN purchase orders to meet production and service demands.
Essential Duties:
  • Prepare and issue RFQs as necessary, ensuring competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers while developing and implementing cost-saving initiatives and commodity strategies.
  • Collaborate with various departments within Hendrickson to ensure a consistent flow of materials.
  • Optimize inventory levels to achieve a customer order fill rate of 95% or higher for assigned commodities.
  • Analyze freight and inventory carrying costs to determine the most efficient lot sizes and delivery schedules.
  • Champion initiatives aimed at reducing inventory levels and improving material requirements planning.
  • Place and monitor Purchase Orders to fully support production and service requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and data related to assigned suppliers and components.
  • Assist in processing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and communicate relevant updates to suppliers.
  • Support the release of new parts and manage transitions between part revisions.
  • Prepare monthly activity and inventory reports as needed.
  • Engage in cross-training initiatives within the department to enhance team capabilities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in planning or purchasing within a manufacturing context is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of MRP, KANBAN, JIT, and FIFO methodologies.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and supplier management abilities.
  • Proficient in PC applications, including QAD, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Work Environment:
Minimal exposure to extreme temperatures and noise levels. Regular attendance is expected.
