Position Overview

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner is dedicated to investigating the circumstances surrounding deaths in New York City, including those resulting from criminal acts, accidents, suicides, or other unusual situations. Our mission is to provide clarity and support to families and communities during challenging times.

Role Summary

The Human Resources & Labor Relations team at OCME plays a crucial role in managing workforce processes, recruitment, and employee engagement. We are seeking College Aide(s) to support various functions within the Recruitment, Payroll & Timekeeping, and Labor Relations divisions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating user-friendly personnel request forms to enhance tracking and submission processes.
  • Assisting in the digitization of employee personnel files and transitioning to new systems.
  • Reconciling HR records with other agency databases to ensure accuracy.
  • Initiating and organizing employee personnel folders, including filing licenses, medical notes, and updates.
  • Coordinating communication with candidates and scheduling interviews.
  • Facilitating the physical organization of archived employee files.
  • Maintaining OCME-DNA records with precision.
  • Compiling and analyzing data for various HR functions.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of agency events.
  • Assisting with the tracking and retention of data across Labor Relations, Timekeeping & Payroll, and Recruitment.
  • Accessing secure systems while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Under supervision, aiding in the creation of promotional materials for agency initiatives.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop a repository of agency images for internal use.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants must be enrolled in a college program or have recently graduated by the program's start date. This internship is designed for a limited duration, typically spanning the summer months.
