Position Title: Key Account Manager (Distribution)

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Area Sales Manager

Location: Candidates should be based in the Chicagoland or Milwaukee area.

Territory: Responsible for Illinois and Wisconsin.

Role Summary: The Key Account Manager will enhance sales and boost profitability by nurturing existing client relationships and acquiring new customers within the designated territory. This role involves promoting products, delivering technical assistance, and conducting training sessions for both new and existing clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Activities:

  • Collaborate with management to refine territory strategies and establish sales objectives.
  • Assess sales potential for both new and existing clients through research and direct engagement.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations to prospective and current customers.
  • Continuously expand product knowledge to enhance sales effectiveness and personal growth.
  • Address client inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary to provide client support.

Customer Engagement:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Identify customer needs to recommend appropriate products.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction levels and address any concerns.
  • Expand the client base by identifying and qualifying new business opportunities.
  • Foster and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure profitability for both the company and the client.
  • Prepare and present accurate quotations.
  • Communicate any fluctuations in product demand to the purchasing department.

Market Analysis:

  • Stay informed about local regulations and consumer preferences.
  • Collect competitive intelligence and market insights while collaborating with the distribution team.

Sales Management:

  • Utilize contact management and office software effectively.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training on product features and benefits to customers.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and product knowledge through various learning opportunities.
  • Engage in local industry associations and trade shows.
  • Participate in comprehensive in-house training programs.

Professional Standards:

  • Adhere to company policies and ethical standards.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate integrity in dealings with customers and vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role is required.
  • Experience in industrial sales and wholesale distribution is essential.
  • Knowledge of food, material handling, or packaging industries is advantageous.
  • Proven track record of meeting sales targets and driving growth.
  • Strong understanding of effective sales strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to identify business opportunities through market monitoring.
  • Excellent project management and multitasking capabilities.
  • Technical expertise in industrial equipment and machinery is preferred.
