Position Overview
The Educational Program Coordinator role encompasses a comprehensive array of services aimed at supporting students engaged in the Gateway to College initiative.

As the main liaison for Gateway to College participants, this role fosters and sustains continuous communication with students to promote their success within the program. Responsibilities include guiding academic support, assisting with course selection, and overseeing attendance and related matters. The coordinator will also research and assess available internal and external resources to help students overcome obstacles and achieve graduation.

Key Responsibilities
Additional duties involve collaborating with the Project Director to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies for recruitment and retention.

This is a temporary position funded by grants, and employment is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding.

Specific Duties
1. Conduct information sessions and provide one-on-one counseling to students and their families regarding the Gateway to College program requirements.
2. Assist the Project Director in coordinating outreach, intake, evaluation, and orientation processes.
3. Collaborate with school districts, relevant city offices, and community organizations to establish referral processes for prospective students.
4. Offer a comprehensive range of academic and social-emotional support to ensure student retention and success.
5. Maintain regular communication with students and their families about progress, attendance, and behavioral concerns.
6. Help develop program materials and forms specific to operational needs and student data tracking.
7. Coordinate and facilitate academic, social-emotional, and career-related activities for program participants.
8. Actively engage in all Gateway events, including graduations, social gatherings, and community service activities.
9. Support the Project Director in delivering presentations to promote the program to internal and external audiences.
10. Monitor student progress, review academic records, and provide necessary support to ensure academic success and program completion while maintaining accurate case files.
11. Prepare and maintain reports and documentation in accordance with program objectives.
12. Communicate with College offices and external agencies to clarify program requirements and address individual student needs.
13. Adhere to regulations concerning the confidentiality and security of student records and other sensitive documents.
14. Maintain respect and understanding for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of various social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
15. Perform duties in alignment with the College's mission, goals, and core values.
16. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Science, Counseling, or a related field.
2. A minimum of two years of experience working directly with at-risk youth (ages 16 to 21) in educational or social service settings.
3. Experience in assessing student needs and coordinating educational and community-based services for student support.
4. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
5. Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain case files and prepare reports.
6. Proven ability to collaborate and build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in a related field.
2. Experience assessing students in a community college environment.
3. Knowledge and experience working with students who are off-track to graduation (over-aged/under-credited).
