About the Position

Community College of Philadelphia is seeking a part-time Instructor to teach in the Nurse Aide Training Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational curriculum for the Nurse Aide Training Program to meet federal and state requirements.
  • Teach approved nurse aide curriculum in a classroom and clinical setting.
  • Maintain and update student competency and skills demonstration paperwork.
  • Provide leadership in formulating goals and objectives of the Nurse Aide Training Program.
  • Participate in annual on-site review process conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the College's mission, vision, and values.
  • Utilize existing technology to enhance student learning and incorporate instructional technology to support the learning process.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve College and departmental success.
  • Establish an inclusive learning environment and demonstrate an understanding of diverse student backgrounds.
  • Implement diverse teaching strategies to accommodate student learning styles.
  • Strive for excellence in teaching and model behaviors that encourage student success and retention.

External and Internal Community Relations
  • Participate in academic life of the College, including recruitment events and student life activities.
  • Create learning opportunities for students inside and outside of the classroom.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree required from a recognized institutional accreditor.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as an RN or LPN, with at least one year (2,000 hours) in a licensed long-term care facility.
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation (NATCEP) Teaching-the-Educator (TTE) certificate.
  • Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) must be acceptable in accordance with P.L. 169 of 1997.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as a NATCEP instructor preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching diverse student populations and addressing equity gaps.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching within a community college.
  • Bilingual or other language proficiency.
