Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Nutrition Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and management of designated nutrition education initiatives within eligible schools and community sites. This role involves engaging with school-age children and adults to promote healthy eating habits and lifestyle choices. The coordinator will oversee activities related to the Pennsylvania Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) at assigned locations. Responsibilities include collaborating with site personnel and community partners to evaluate and develop wellness objectives and strategies; planning and executing educational sessions in accordance with SNAP-Ed standards; and identifying opportunities for policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) changes to encourage positive health behaviors among participants. The coordinator will also represent the program at various community events, such as health fairs and workshops, and will participate in evaluation efforts as required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential. This position requires effective scheduling and coordination of nutrition education and PSE activities, along with accurate documentation and reporting of all program-related activities. A criminal background check and child abuse clearance are mandatory. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required. Current ServSafe Manager Certification is advantageous. This is a 10-month role compensated over 12 months, with time off during the summer months when the school district is not in session.

Key Responsibilities

Develops and implements approved nutrition education programs in schools and community sites, adhering to SNAP-Ed guidelines. Engages in PSE interventions and participates in community outreach events. Prepares necessary educational materials and revises them as needed. Utilizes Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for all job functions. Assists in data collection and evaluation processes as directed. Complies with the policies and procedures of Drexel University, ensuring confidentiality and security of all records and property. Maintains accurate documentation and submits required forms for timely data entry, including program delivery reports and activity logs. Fosters positive relationships with school district personnel, community site staff, and Drexel University colleagues. Conducts site visits to explore programming opportunities that align with community goals. Participates in professional development activities for educators and health professionals within the school district. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-2 years of relevant experience in nutrition education or community health. Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

ServSafe Manager Certification.

Physical Requirements

Primarily sedentary work at a desk or table. Ability to lift items weighing over 50 lbs.

Additional Information

This position is classified as exempt. Compensation for this role typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of the designated salary grade, which is subject to review based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
