Job Overview

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Nutrition Educator is responsible for executing and managing approved nutrition education initiatives within designated Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) eligible educational institutions and community locations. This role involves coordinating PA SNAP-Ed efforts at assigned venues, which includes collaborating with site personnel, committees, and stakeholders to evaluate, strategize, and implement wellness objectives and interventions. The educator will plan, schedule, and deliver direct educational sessions in compliance with SNAP-Ed standards and actively seek opportunities for policy, systems, and environment (PSE) interventions aimed at fostering positive behavioral changes among participants. Engagement in community events such as Back to School nights, health fairs, and workshops that promote PSE initiatives is also a key responsibility. The educator will participate in assigned evaluation activities and utilize Microsoft applications for documentation and reporting. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required, along with a current ServSafe Manager Certification being advantageous. This position spans 10 months, with compensation distributed over 12 months, allowing for a break during the summer months when the educational institutions are not in session.

Key Responsibilities

Develops and implements approved nutrition education programs in schools and community sites for various age groups. Adheres to SNAP-Ed guidelines in lesson planning and seeks opportunities for PSE interventions. Prepares necessary materials for nutrition education sessions and revises educational content as needed. Proficiently uses Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in all job functions. Assists in data collection and participates in evaluation activities as required. Complies with the policies and procedures of Drexel University, ensuring confidentiality and security of all records and property. Accurately documents activities and submits required forms for data entry in a timely manner, including program delivery reports and activity logs. Maintains positive working relationships with educational and community site personnel, and collaborates closely with Drexel University staff. Conducts site visits to identify opportunities for programming that aligns with shared goals. Participates in professional development activities, including conferences and workshops for educators within the school district. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-2 years of relevant experience in nutrition education or a related area. Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

ServSafe Manager Certification.

Physical Requirements

Primarily involves sitting at a desk or table. Ability to lift items weighing over 50 lbs.
