Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Safety and Hygiene Specialist II to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for implementing and administering project industrial safety and hygiene programs to ensure the health and safety of employees, the public, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of a nuclear safety quality culture that emphasizes the values of safety and quality in the performance of work.
  • Provide technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, Federal, State, and/or Company health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety and health standards of the Company and all applicable codes are followed.
  • Recommend facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives.
  • Identify workplace hazards throughout operations and maintenance activities in an operating industrial facility.
  • Develop appropriate hazard controls and mitigation strategies and provide oversight of work activities to ensure controls are effectively implemented.
  • Support worker safety and health needs, including injury and event response and case management.
  • Ensure effective implementation of safety and health rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in pre-task and safety meetings.
  • Perform incident/event investigations and prepare associated reports.
  • Maintain current knowledge of specific government agency requirements.
  • Determine and develop approaches to solutions.
  • Assist with the development, implementations and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, correspondence, and program compliance documents.
  • Establish and maintain permits as required.
  • Meet applicable regulatory codes and standards where required.
  • Assist in the development of IS&H training programs and conducts IS&H training meetings as necessary.
  • Perform analysis of IS&H data.
  • Train and assist subordinate IS&H specialists in sampling and assessment methodologies.
  • Conduct and assists projects with sampling, monitoring, data interpretation and occupational health surveys to ensure compliance with established programs.
Requirements
  • University Hire with degree in Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related science or engineering field with less than 1 year of experience or 4-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing or petroleum refining environment is preferred.
  • Experience in an operating facility is preferred.
