The HCA Healthcare StaRN Residency Program is a comprehensive year-long initiative aimed at providing you with practical experience to cultivate essential clinical and analytical skills. As a Resident I Graduate Nurse, you will be immersed in a nurturing environment alongside nurse educators, seasoned nurses, and fellow residents who foster learning, practical application, and community engagement, guiding you through the transition from student to registered nurse.

Role Summary and Requirements
The StaRN Residency Program at St. David's HealthCare equips you with the essential tools to thrive in today's healthcare setting. This compensated program will facilitate your transition from academic learning to practical application through a structured series of educational experiences, including:
- Specialized clinical training in a focused area.
- Monthly educational workshops.
- Preceptorship training with an assigned facility mentor.
- Skill assessment and evaluation through practical simulations.
- Guidance from experienced nursing leaders.
- Collaborative work on an evidence-based practice initiative.
Oncology Services RN Residency Tracks include: Bone Marrow Transplant, Surgical Oncology, Transplant and Cellular Therapy
These specialties are available at various facilities.
- South Austin Medical Center - Bone Marrow Transplant/Transplant and Cellular Therapy
- St. David's Medical Center, Downtown campus - Surgical Oncology
- North Austin Medical Center - Medical Oncology
- Round Rock Medical Center - Medical Oncology
The RN Resident is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with departmental requirements and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical professionals and other care team members, the RN Resident provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care utilizing established nursing models such as 'Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.' The RN Resident acts as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patient conditions upon admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in status.
- Execute procedures, monitoring, or other functions as directed by medical providers. Document care administration in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses, notifying providers and intervening as necessary in case of adverse reactions.
- Deliver outstanding care by responding promptly to patient requests, anticipating needs, and addressing them proactively.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring clarity in communication.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within one year of employment.
- Additional certifications may be required during employment.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the state.
- No prior experience required.
- Some travel may be necessary for training purposes.
