Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse (RN), your responsibilities will include conducting patient assessments, formulating care plans, and implementing and evaluating patient care.
As part of the interdisciplinary care team, you will collaborate with other professionals to ensure the safe and effective delivery of care.
- Conduct age-appropriate assessments of patients upon arrival to the surgical suite.
- Assist with patient care during anesthesia induction and/or prepare patients for local anesthesia.
- Establish and maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment.
- Perform correct surgical preparations.
- Accurately document and report on patient care.
- Demonstrate proficiency with all surgical specialties and equipment.
- Engage in professional development and self-improvement.
- Support the orientation of new staff members.
- Complete annual departmental competencies.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Operating Room Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience as a Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse.
Education
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Licenses and Certifications
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification per SDH policy.
