Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist Clinical Specialist to join our team at St. David's South Austin Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing expert medication management and clinical support to patients in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and enhance clinical protocols and guidelines to ensure evidence-based medicine is delivered to patients.
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff to resolve medication-related issues and develop interventions.
  • Provide leadership and comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients, promoting safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Educate prescribers and other healthcare professionals on pharmaceutical care best practices.
  • Develop and implement training programs for pharmacy students, residents, pharmacists, and technicians.
  • Foster the development of non-specialist pharmacist knowledge and skills in providing pharmaceutical care to patients in the ICU.
  • Support facility, state, and federal regulatory and accreditation activities and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Practice Residency or commensurate board certification or experience.
  • Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Specialized Residency in the area of specialty (preferred).
  • Current Pharmacist license with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
  • Sterile Products (IV) Certification through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) within 60 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications as per St. David's Healthcare Policy.
  • Pediatric Life Support (PALS) and Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) certifications as per St. David's Healthcare Policy.
