Supervisory Responsibilities: This role oversees Case Managers.

Position Purpose:

The Social Services Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring that Case Managers deliver high-quality support to families residing in shelters. This position adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Department of Homeless Services (DHS), the New York State Office of Temporary Disability Assistance (OTDA), and the standards of Women In Need, Inc. The Supervisor will utilize Evidence-Based Practices (EBP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), and effective boundary setting to guide Case Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive case management, including individual and group counseling, when Case Managers are unavailable.
  • Provide oversight and professional development for Case Managers through coaching and training.
  • Lead the shelter's multidisciplinary team to enhance service delivery.
  • Advocate for the integration of Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) across all service areas.
  • Utilize EBP, MI, and TIC methodologies to surpass program objectives.
  • Assume leadership for Program Services in the absence of the Program Director.
  • Engage in daily housing metrics discussions with DHS.
  • Offer crisis intervention and manage daily case management operations, ensuring regular case conferences.
  • Ensure timely initial needs assessments for new families and facilitate the development of Individualized Living Plans (ILP).
  • Participate in Child Safety Conferences and fulfill the role of Mandated Reporter to the Administration for Children's Services (ACS) as necessary.
  • Ensure Case Managers receive appropriate orientation and training for maintaining the Uniform Client Chart.
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate and confidential case records by Case Managers.
  • Conduct audits of the Client Assistance and Rehousing Enterprise System (CARES) database to ensure compliance and readiness for audits.
  • Collaborate with community service providers to guarantee clients access essential services, including mandated substance abuse and mental health treatment.
  • Attend regular CARES training sessions to stay updated on DHS protocols.
  • Design and facilitate client workshops and activities.
  • Organize and participate in monthly client house meetings.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the Program Director to ensure resource availability and program goal achievement.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports for funders and organizational needs.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Availability to work one evening per week, one Saturday per month, and during holidays is required.
