Overview: Key Responsibilities

Primary Objective

The role involves the preparation of financial data in the form of statements and reports to facilitate informed decision-making by management. This includes conducting analyses for incorporation into the Company's financial statements for all mandatory submissions to regulatory bodies such as the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The position also entails performing analyses for various internal reports and ensuring the precision and punctuality of all tasks assigned. The specialist will provide technical expertise to assist business partners across the organization with a diverse range of tasks and projects. Additionally, support will be provided to the regulatory team in evaluating financial data for the preparation of testimonies and responses to data inquiries as required. The role is expected to function with minimal oversight and may involve special projects or guidance to junior analysts.

This position is integral to both External and Internal Financial Reporting teams. Responsibilities may encompass the preparation of SEC filings such as Forms 10-Q and 10-K, the creation of internal financial reports, and the analysis of financial data resulting in various management reports. The specialist will also engage in account activity analysis and assist in the timely completion of month-end close processes while accurately responding to data requests under strict deadlines.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare financial documents (which may include financial statements) to support management decision-making and conduct analyses of financial outcomes for SEC reporting and for the Corporate Headquarters. Provide support to internal business partners with financial insights and research documentation, resolving accounting and reporting challenges in alignment with Company policies. Investigate complex and unusual variances in financial results, monitor discrepancies, identify key factors, and recommend actions to management. Prepare schedules for general and deferred rate cases, utilizing expertise to respond to data requests from interveners and contribute to the preparation of witness testimonies. Enhance productivity by automating accounting processes and coordinating information requirements. Compile and analyze financial data for other federal reporting as necessary. Review regulatory transactions calculated by the Rates Department for inclusion in financial statements and record those transactions accurately. Prepare and document journal entries to ensure precise financial reporting, including account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts. Ensure adherence to internal controls, identify deficiencies, and propose improvements. Support activities related to both internal and external audits. Maintain awareness of compliance requirements and ensure all aspects of the position are understood and followed, in accordance with applicable policies, codes, and regulations.

Qualifications Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution, along with 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting. If the degree is in a related field, completion of college-level accounting coursework is required for Nevada CPAs. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Proven technical knowledge, including research into new accounting standards and SEC and FERC regulations. Strong understanding of financial reporting and the Company's operational processes. Demonstrated project management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities. Exceptional analytical, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficient in interpreting accounting, financial, and economic data. Technical Proficiencies
Proficient in PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Work Environment and Physical Demands
Standard office environment with no special physical demands required. Compensation and Benefits

Annual Salary: $100,700 (Min) to $118,400 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
