Primary Objective

The role involves the preparation of financial data in the form of financial statements and various reports to assist management in decision-making processes. This position is accountable for conducting analyses for inclusion in the financial statements of the organization for all necessary submissions to regulatory bodies, including the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Additionally, it entails performing analyses for other external financial reports and several internal documents, including those provided to the Corporate Headquarters. The individual is responsible for ensuring the precision and punctuality of all tasks. This role provides technical expertise to support business partners across the organization with a diverse range of assignments and projects. It also involves assisting the regulatory team in evaluating financial data to prepare testimonies, regulatory responses to data inquiries, and similar tasks as required. The position operates with minimal oversight and may necessitate involvement in special projects or providing guidance and technical support to less experienced analysts.

This position supports both the External and Internal Financial Reporting teams. Responsibilities may encompass, but are not limited to, the preparation of SEC filings such as Forms 10-Q & 10-K, the creation of internal financial reports, and the analysis of financial data results in various management reports. The role also includes account activity analysis and the preparation of various schedules to support the accounting month-end close process. Assisting in the timely completion of month-end close activities and responding to data requests accurately under strict deadlines is essential.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Generate financial reports (which may include financial statements) to support management decision-making and conduct analyses of financial outcomes for inclusion in SEC reporting and for reporting to Corporate Headquarters. Provide support to internal business partners throughout the organization with financial insights and research documents, resolving assigned accounting and reporting challenges in alignment with organizational policies. Investigate complex and unusual variations in financial results, monitor discrepancies, identify key drivers, and recommend actions to management. Prepare schedules for general and deferred rate cases, utilizing expertise to respond to data requests from interveners and contribute to the preparation of witness testimonies. Enhance productivity by automating accounting applications and coordinating information requirements. Compile and analyze financial data for other federal reporting as necessary. Review regulatory transactions calculated by the Rates Department for inclusion in financial statements and ensure accurate recording of those transactions. Prepare and record journal entries to support precise financial reporting, including account reconciliations as required for assigned general ledger accounts. Ensure compliance with internal controls, identify deficiencies, and propose improvements. Support activities related to internal and external audits. Ensure all compliance aspects of the position are understood and adhered to; comprehend and comply with all applicable policies, codes, and regulations.Qualifications Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution and 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting is required. If the degree is in a related field, college-level accounting coursework necessary for Nevada CPAs must be completed. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated technical knowledge, including research into new accounting guidance and SEC and FERC regulations. Proven technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting and the organization’s business processes. Demonstrated project management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities. Strong analytical, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proven skills in interpreting accounting, financial, and economic information. Proficiency in PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required. Compensation

Annual Salary: $100,700 (Min) to $118,400 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
