Job Overview

The Clinic Front Desk plays a crucial role in the healthcare environment by ensuring the seamless collection, verification, and entry of patient information, including demographics, insurance details, and medical history. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients, setting a welcoming tone and facilitating a smooth patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately registers patients prior to their appointments, ensuring that all demographic and insurance information is current and correctly entered into the system.
  • Collects comprehensive medical, social, and family history from patients and inputs this data into the electronic health record.
  • Informs and assists patients regarding their financial responsibilities for services rendered.
  • Guides patients in completing necessary forms for treatment or prior authorization as needed.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all patient interactions and data handling.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and maintains relevant certifications and affiliations.
  • Participates in mandatory organizational meetings and committees as required.
  • Performs additional related tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. At least one year of experience in an administrative or clerical role is necessary. Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processing is preferred. Experience in a medical office setting is advantageous.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
This role is primarily office-based, requiring prolonged periods of sitting. The position involves frequent use of a computer, necessitating good vision and manual dexterity for operating standard office equipment. Occasional lifting and reaching may be required, with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with staff, physicians, and the public, including managing challenging situations with professionalism.
