Senior Process Engineer

The Senior Process Engineer role is pivotal in delivering technical expertise and overseeing capital project execution at our specialty starch facility. This position is tasked with ensuring that production meets all quality, cost, and efficiency standards. The engineer will design, develop, and implement ongoing process enhancements to achieve business objectives while providing technical support to operational teams for troubleshooting and corrective action planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Offer technical leadership and expertise for the specialty starch facility.
  • Engage in engineering projects, monitor daily production metrics, and translate processes into flow sheet representations.
  • Lead the development, design, installation, and commissioning of capital projects aimed at enhancing safety, increasing throughput, reducing costs, and improving quality.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering proposals and reports, providing insights and recommendations based on findings.
  • Contribute innovative ideas for engineering projects, focusing on safety and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure timely and budget-compliant completion of engineering assignments.
  • Apply standard engineering principles and maintain a working knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Identify and resolve technical process challenges.
  • Establish systems to monitor key process parameters and overall performance, conducting root cause analyses to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical safety guidance.
  • Address a variety of troubleshooting issues, leveraging knowledge and creativity to propose solutions.
  • Build recognition among peers for expertise in the engineering field and foster collaborative relationships across plants.
  • Coordinate team efforts, manage priority conflicts, and align personal work with organizational values.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and production personnel, engaging with maintenance, accounting, purchasing, and research teams.
  • Gain insights into major cost drivers and address relevant issues.
  • Uphold organizational values and integrity in all work.
  • Report to the Technical Manager while working under the guidance of the Plant Manager.
  • Provide technical supervision and mentorship to process operators and junior professionals.
Physical Requirements

While performing job duties, employees are regularly required to communicate effectively, stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach, climb, and maintain balance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to distinguish colors.

Work Environment

Employees may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Occasional exposure to extreme conditions may occur. The noise level in the work environment can be loud, and work may be conducted near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor conditions, including inclement weather. This role also involves standard office tasks using computers and other office equipment.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • 4+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing capital projects.
  • Experience in providing production support.
